PortScan 2005

A fine time was had by all. Attendees were Gurney Halleck, SweetyPig, Mr. Rufus Faloofus, and the genial host, Etaoin Shrdlu.

The two ports sampled were Special Reserve Porto, produced and bottled by Cockborn Smithes & Ca., S.A. Oporto Portugal, a vintage of indeterminate years, and Benziger McNab Ranch Port, of Mendocino County, vintage 2002. The Benziger had a strong tannic component, but was otherwise quite pleasant and light. The Cockborn Smithes (imported via Allied Domecq Wines of Healdsburg, CA) was sherry-like in its sweetness, and had the full-bodied sensation one comes to expect from Portuguese products.

Both ports were appreciated to the last drop, and a general agreement was made to return to the scene of the crime a year from now.
